New Managing Director in DESMI Ocean Guard A/S

We are very pleased to announce that Rasmus Folsø will join DESMI Ocean Guard A/S as Managing Director as of 1 December 2011. At the same time the present Managing Director, Christian Ingvorsen, will be appointed Technical Director.

Rasmus Folsø is a naval engineering graduate (MSc in Engineering, PhD) and throughout his career he has been involved in technology development and innovation at RINA in Genoa, Italy, and at A. P. Moller-Maersk, respectively. At Maersk Maritime Technology Rasmus Folsø recently held the position as acting manager of the innovation department, where he has closely followed the development within ballast water treatment and also been involved in starting-up DESMI Ocean Guard A/S as member of the board.
 
In the first phase of DESMI Ocean Guard’s history focus has been on the technological development of a system for ballast water treatment in accordance with IMO requirements, and the company has today got far in the process of having authority approval of a technological, breakthrough concept under the leadership of Christian Ingvorsen. DESMI Ocean Guard is now entering a phase with more focus on the commercial development of the company, but also with continued technological development of future systems that constantly meet the market requirements. With Rasmus Folsø as managing director and a technologically strong staff, the shareholders are convinced that DESMI Ocean Guard has an optimal manning for future growth.
 
 DESMI Ocean Guard A/S was established by A.P. Moller-Maersk A/S, DESMI A/S and Skjølstrup & Grønborg ApS. The company is located in Aalborg, Denmark, and is focusing on development of systems for removal of living organisms from vessels’ ballast water. It is anticipated that between 50,000 and 70,000 vessels need to install such equipment in the period up to 2019, so the market potential is great.
